AKRON, OH (Aug. 28, 2019) – Earlier this summer, to celebrate Akron Rebar Company’s multi-million-dollar investment in cutting-edge equipment, Akron’s Mayor Horrigan visited and toured its facility.
When Mayor Horrigan and Akron’s entrepreneurial expert, Heather Roszczyk, heard of the expansion plans of Akron Rebar Company, they were thrilled to visit the space to see the latest advancements in fabrication technology, as well as, to hear plans for additional future growth.
“On a recent visit to Akron Rebar Company, I was impressed with their commitment to growth through innovation,” noted Mayor Dan Horrigan. “Particularly in a legacy manufacturing company like Akron Rebar Company, the strategic choice to explore and adopt new technologies will keep Akron at the forefront in the industries of the future.”
Akron Rebar Company is a state-of-the-art steel rebar fabrication company founded in January 1978 with the purpose of supplying construction contractors in the Northeast Ohio region. Since then, Akron Rebar Company has evolved to become a major supplier in the commercial, precast, residential and retail markets throughout the Midwest.
The fuel for its growth includes technology from MEP, an Italian-based manufacturer known for its efficient and innovative manufacturing solutions. Now, Akron Rebar Company has two fully automated MEP cut-and-bend stations added to their existing arsenal of fabrication equipment for processing stock rebar.
In fact, one of the machines delivers custom, multi-radius bending—and is the first of its kind in the world.
“These fully-automated systems offer such dramatic flexibility that we can literally offer an infinite number of bend options. The investment significantly increases our capacity, efficiency, and service, while maintaining our competitive pricing, positioning us for tremendous growth,” explains President and CEO Michael B. Humphrey II.
