Construction Commences On The Federal House Project At Penn State Behrend

ERIE, PA.  (Feb. 15, 2021)

Penn State Behrend is renovating and expanding the Federal House originally built in 1883. The renovation will allow CORE to expand both its school-focused programs and its partnerships with key community groups.

The $6.3 million project will preserve, expand Federal House at Penn State Behrend. 

The end result of the renovation project will be “a simple but graceful building that preserves a historic structure”. The original brick structure of the Federal House will be preserved and connected to a new, modern-design building

Under contract to EE Austin & Son, Akron Erectors Inc. will place all structural reinforcement steel, fabricated and supplied by Akron Rebar Company into the landmark Erie PA site.

The Historic Federal House is the oldest brick structure in Harborcreek Township. CEO of Akron Rebar Company; Michael B.
